COMPARE

Capwave and Affinity. Add the memory first.

Capwave is not a CRM. Affinity records who you know and where a deal stands. I read what arrives, remember what was said, and do the work in between. Most firms start by running both. Over time, many find that what they kept a CRM for, the deal sheet, the notes, the files, the to-do list, now lives in me. Every Affinity fact on this page is from Affinity's own pages, checked in September 2026.

    THE SHORT VERSION

    Two different jobs.

    AFFINITY

The system of record. Contacts, relationship strength, lists, pipeline stages, reminders, enrichment from PitchBook and Crunchbase. Built since 2014 and, by its own count, used by 3,300+ private capital firms.

    CAPWAVE

The system of memory and work. I read the deck, the DocSend behind the link, the data room, the transcript. I score every deal against your thesis, brief every meeting, draft the pass note and the follow-up in your words, track every promise until it closes, and keep all of it as one memory for the whole firm.

    OVER TIME

On day one I sit alongside Affinity and read what it records, so nothing is typed twice and nothing that reached the firm goes unread. Over time, the pipeline, the notes and the files already live in me, and the CRM has less and less left to hold.

    SIDE BY SIDE

    What each one does.

    Affinity
    Capwave
    Captures interactions
    Affinity
Syncs email and calendar from Google and Microsoft, creates contacts from addresses and attendees, logs first and last email and meetings. Email bodies are shared with teammates only if each user opts in; the default is Hide All.
    Capwave
Connects the firm's inbox, calendar and notetaker, reads the threads that matter to a deal, and keeps what was said, for the whole firm.
    Reads documents
    Affinity
Attachments are surfaced as files on a profile. A Pitch Deck Analyzer in Affinity Labs reads files a user uploads (December 2025). 'Document Synthesis' for inbound decks is listed as coming soon. Its agents 'do not read email at launch' (Affinity's own FAQ, July 2026).
    Capwave
Every deck, DocSend link, data room and spreadsheet tab that reaches the firm is read overnight, without anyone uploading anything.
    Scores deals
    Affinity
Statuses, priorities and custom fields you set; enrichment from 40+ data sources.
    Capwave
A fit score against your thesis for every deal, every number cited to its source; the non-fits filed with a pass note drafted in your words.
    Meeting prep
    Affinity
A Meeting Prep agent (Ascend, July 2026) built from on-platform data; Notetaker joins calls for transcripts and summaries.
    Capwave
A brief before every meeting from the deck, the data room, the last call and your prior touches, with the claim that does not match the transcript flagged.
    Warm paths
    Affinity
A relationship strength score from 10 to 100 based on recency and frequency of interactions; a Connections tab; a Warm Intros agent.
    Capwave
The warmest path into any round from everything the firm has touched, with the reason, the ask drafted, and who owes whom.
    Follow-through
    Affinity
Reminders triggered by status, priority or inactivity.
    Capwave
I hold the task across inbox, calendar and transcript until it closes. Nothing goes out without your say-so.
    When a partner leaves
    Affinity
Contacts and logged interactions stay in the CRM.
    Capwave
The reasoning, the promises and the meeting record stay with the firm, readable by every seat.
    Ask it a question
    Affinity
AI Chat inside the CRM and an MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT (2026).
    Capwave
Ask me anything about a deal, a person or a promise; I answer with sources, in the app or from Claude and ChatGPT.
    Price
    Affinity
$2,000 to $2,700 per user per year, billed annually (pricing page, September 2026).
    Capwave
$200 a seat a month. Monthly, cancel anytime.
    Security
    Affinity
SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR (security page).
    Capwave
Siloed by firm, zero training on your data, export anytime.

    THE HONEST VERSION

Where each one is the right answer.

    WHEN AFFINITY ALONE IS ENOUGH
You want a clean record and a pipeline board, and the team is happy to type the notes.
Deal flow is small enough that a partner reads every deck personally.
You need a large CRM's permissions and reporting across many funds today.
WHEN YOU NEED THE MEMORY TOO
Decks arrive faster than anyone reads them, and the good one is buried under the noise.
Meetings start from zero because the context sits in someone else's inbox.
Promises made on calls get lost between the call and the CRM.
A partner is leaving, and the firm's memory is leaving with them.
    QUESTIONS

    Questions firms ask.

    Does Capwave replace Affinity?

Not on day one. I sit alongside Affinity and read what it records, and the reading, scoring, briefing and follow-through happen in me. Over time, most of what firms kept a CRM for, the deal sheet, the notes, the files, the to-do list, lives in me, and each firm decides what the CRM still needs to hold. If your firm has no CRM, my shared deal sheet is enough from the start.

Does Capwave read what is in Affinity?

Yes. Connect it and I read the contacts, lists and notes, so nothing has to be typed twice.

Why not wait for Affinity to add reading?

Affinity says its agents do not read email at launch and lists document synthesis as coming soon. Reading everything that reaches the firm, and remembering it for every seat, is the whole of what I do, and it is what design-partner firms run on today.
